Private forest in B.C. sold for $19 million

POWELL RIVER, B.C. — Kootenay-based Selkirk Mountain Forest has purchased 6,327 acres of private forest land for $19.4 million on Texada Island, near B.C.’s Sunshine Coast.

According to a story in the Powell River Peak, Texada Island Forest Reserve owned the land near Gillies Bay for several decades and hired Monticola Forestry to manage and implement a long-term, forest-management plan for the property, said Monticola co-owner Maureen Muenter.

“We can say that the management of the property will continue in the fashion it has in the past,ā€ said Muenter. ā€œI don’t think anyone will notice any difference.ā€
