Through The State of Canada’s Forests annual report, Natural Resources Canada provides the only national snap shot of Canada’s forests and forest industry. The agency has been tracking the country’s journey towards sustainable forest management for 27 years.

As we celebrate Canada’s 150 years as a forest nation, this year’s report has articles about the history of Canada’s forest sector and how the sector is leading the way in the global bioeconomy today. Learn about how citizen scientists can help us better understand spruce budworm outbreaks, and how science-based systems are helping forest managers predict, monitor and manage forest fires.

The report also provides statistics and indicators of forest area, deforestation, forest diseases and insects, employment, economics and financial performance.
