The Sultan Industrial Road is a logging road near Chapleau, ON, frequently taken by people wanting to save as much as an hour off an east-west trip between Highways 144 and 129. Northern Ontario mayors for decades have lobbied for the Sultan Road to become a provincial highway, according to a story on CBC News.

The road is financed by the province and Eacom Timber, which uses the road to transport logs for its sawmills. “We recognize how important that road is to northern Ontario. We share the forest and our infrastructure with other users,” says Eacom director of public affairs Christine Leduc.
