Last season Husqvarna Canada Inc. teamed up with Vancouver Whitecaps FC as the Official Garden & Home Lawn Care Equipment Partner, working with One Tree Planted to fulfill its Goals for Trees program. The initiative focused on making a commitment to planting 100 trees for every goal scored by Whitecaps FC.

In 2017, Whitecaps FC scored 50 goals, translating to 5,000 trees. As an added bonus, the federal government matched Husqvarna’s pledge, meaning the 50 goals led to 10,000 trees being planted in an area near 70-Mile House. To celebrate this successful partnership, a sapling in a planter was presented on the east balcony of the National Soccer Development Center, where the Whitecaps FC hold their team practice.
