Expanding the scope of ‘Sourcing Reclaimed Material for use in FSC products/projects’ standard

July 7, 2021

By: The Working Forest Staff

FSC International is currently exploring whether its Standard for ‘Sourcing Reclaimed Material For Use in FSC Product Groups or FSC Certified Projects’ should be expanded to include new concepts, including:

  • The incorporation of circularity concepts (inclusion of textiles, NTFPs, etc.;
  • Reassessing the treatment of salvaged wood from urban areas;
  • Considering the inclusion of certain categories of co-products under the scope of the standard.

Details of the proposed changes can be found in the ‘FSC-STD-40-007’s review report’ and is currently open for consultation until July 14, 2021. Please visit the FSC consultation platform to access the ‘review report’ and participate in the consultation.
