Muskoka Landowners Association demands new Tree Cutting By-Law

The Muskoka Landowners Association, who represent a large group of landowners, is asking the District of Muskoka for their cooperation in reviewing and drafting a new copy of the Muskoka tree cutting by-law by ensuring they are part of the committee.

Carrie-Anne Oke-Cook, Association president, "We just want to make sure the District of Muskoka gets it right and has the information from all taxpayers and forest operators is considered before the final tree-cutting bylaw is drafted."

The Muskoka Landowners Association wants the opportunity to be part of the committee and to present findings and all the correspondence, from landowners and other people with a vested interest that reflects the huge response and the great number of concerns of ratepayers throughout Muskoka.

Carrie-Anne Oke-Cooke, President of the Muskoka Landowners Association will be requesting this opportunity at the Monday January 26-2009 District of Muskoka Council Meeting at 7:00 p.m.

A press conference will be held at 6:30 p.m. outside the District Council Offices at 70 Pine Street in Bracebridge. Speaking to the concerns, validity and necessity of the Muskoka tree cutting by-law will be Carrie-Anne Oke-Cooke, President of the MLO. Ontario Landowners Association President Jack MacLaren and Norm Hofstetter, President of the Muskoka Snowmobile Association.
